Plasma cutter

My dad is looking at a plasma cutter.

Northern Industrial 375 Plasma Cutter

I've never really used one and haven't researched them enough to know if this is a good buy or not.
I'd put something funny here, but you probably wouldn't get it anyway...

Well I found out today that this unit is imported from China and none of the consumables are compatible with any of the brand names so we would have to order everything from Northern Tool when needed.  I'm going to tell my dad to pass on this one.

Any suggestions for a plasma torch in the $600 range?

I don't believe there is such a thing; without stipulations attached as you have found out.
EVERY NORMAL MAN MUST BE TEMPTED AT TIMES TO SPIT ON HIS HANDS, HOIST THE BLACK FLAG, AND BEGIN SLITTING THROATS.

You can use mine anytime that you want!  Especially for 600 bones - you just can't take it home! LOL
I cut sheetmetal for free.  It's fixing it that get's expensive.

I don't think you have room in your driveway for a 15 foot batwing brush hog, 12 foot disc or any other broke down equipment he has that needs repaired.

But I'll let him know you offered! ;)

I've got one of these.  Not too bad for the $$$.  If you call them and say you found out about it on Pirate they'll treat you right.  I have had no problems with mine yet.  knock on wood.
